Description
Illustration of Roman jewellery from the book "History of Costumes of Peoples Throughout the Centuries" by Paolo Lorenzini, Nerbini Publishing House, Florence, 1934. Roman women made extensive use of gold and gemstone jewellery: necklaces, bracelets, brooches, pins, and earrings. 'Crotalia' were popular — pendants made from three large, drop-shaped pearls. Merchants displayed their pearls, brought from the East, at the baths.
